3...2...1...blast off!

And the countdown begins. The pre-op for the kidney transplant is October 6th and the surgery will take place October 13th (both Thursdays). I wrote this huge to-do list that any reasonable person would never be able to get done and I'm okay with that. I'm getting things organized at this point. Other things are being placed on a "Restricted" list (I can only lift 10 lbs for 2 months after surgery, with no bending or arms raised above my head so these are things I can do while recuperating since I'll be off work for 2 months, such as crocheting more blankets for Clover and painting my elephant lamp) and a "Fix-it" list (things like painting my closet, applying shelf paper, and the like).

Today I had hoped to start digging in the shed to pull out some craft supplies so I can make name tags for people who wanted to give some to their family members as gifts and so I can do something that doesn't require bending over (like making throw quilts do), but I have this migraine that gets worse when I stand or walk (can't imagine what it'd be like if I didn't have meds to take the edge off). I'm hoping it'll be gone or bearable by tomorrow so I can get to things. And hopefully the weather will be good, because I know it will take a turn soon. If I don't get it done now, it'll be months before I'll be able to get to anything because of the weight limit.

This week I've focused on getting the paperwork in order. I finished my advanced directive (thank you to my two co-workers who signed as witnesses) and made copies. Tomorrow I've got to finish the list of passwords and websites in case my family needs access and I can't remember them. I also have decided to pay this month's bills with savings since my first paycheck of the month comes the day after surgery. That way I won't have to worry about bills until the first of November (all my bills are due the second half of the month).

At this point, I'm taking it one list and one day at a time. And silly me put things on the list that I've crossed off that I'll have to do again (change sheets, change trash, do laundry...how silly of me!). I have the day before we go up off in order to get everything like that complete.

I had my last therapy appointment before the surgery today as well. I did not schedule another one. He knows I'm seeing him because UCSF wants me to have one on stand by, so he'd like a call to know how things went. I really don't think he can give me the help I need, though. It's helped to talk about things with him, but I need a little more direction (and possibly an anxiety prescription). Maybe my New Years resolution will be to find a psychologist (or psychiatrist? In any case, I need more than just a marriage and family therapist).

Clover went to the vet early this morning and had her teeth clean. She's got some pretty teeth now! And she did great; she even came in under estimate. Poor thing knew something was up as soon as I grabbed her harness; she didn't get excited when I put it on her and whined the whole way there. I dropped her off at 8am and picked her up at 4pm. She was happy to be home, though and I was very happy to have her back. And she got the added perk of being fed wet dog food for dinner today and breakfast tomorrow since her gums are a bit sore.

Hopefully I can knock a couple other things off my list since I've done nothing yesterday and today but sleep. That sounds like a good plan right now, actually.
