I can't believe I've neglected to blog for over a week! I haven't been busy, but I have had trouble sleeping, though that's no excuse. I can hardly remember what I've been up to... On the 26th it snowed! That was amazing and the first time it snowed it years. Last week I finished the t-shirt quilt and handed it off to the buyer. Hopefully her son-in-law will enjoy it. That's the only crafting I've done. I think. (I have a bad memory). I've spent the last couple weekends sleeping/napping a lot. I guess it doesn't matter what shift I'm on, my sleep will always be off.
Friday I had dinner (sushi!) with co-worker who I don't see any more and spent two hours there, talking and helping her out (I forget how much fun I had there). Then I talked my sister into going shopping with me because I hadn't gone shopping shopping for like two weeks and I was getting cabin fever. We went to Pier 1, where I bought the elephant curtains for my closet doors. They were 20% and I cannot wait to hang them up so I can stare at them. Then we went to Target where I bought two holders for necklaces (not meant for that, but works for me), cream soda because I have been craving it for months, and pet Febreeze. I also bought 3 modular drawer things because they fit perfectly on my shelves, so I can put away my makeup and have easy access to those while I get ready for work. I also bought new underwear because I can't find a style I'm comfortable in right now.
Then Saturday I went shopping with Mom. We started out at OSH, where we spent around 2 hours going up and down every single item. It was awesome. We crossed a lot of supplies off our list for some projects around the house. I got two closet rods-one to replace the one my clothes are currently on and one for my curtains. Both need to be cut to the right size. I also got a heavy duty holder for my clothes rod, but I need to find something for my curtains. I got 2 smoke detectors. And we finally picked out a weed wacker!
After OSH, we dropped our stuff off at the house, ate at Chevy's, stopped by Target for sheets (I mentioned to Mom we'd seen some California King sized bed sheets for $11.24 and who can beat that?), then went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, where we spent quite a bit of time as well. I bought a grey runner rug for next to my bed and a swingaway can opener for the little kitchen. And because Pet Fun was right there, we stopped by, where we discovered they got new shelves and it looked really nice. I picked up cow hooves for the pups and hydrocortisone spray to try and get them to leave their hot spots alone.
Too much energy was spent on shopping, so I didn't end up mowing the lawn and using my new weed wacker like I wanted to, but I figured I'd do that on Sunday. Which leads us into what I did today. It did not include mowing the lawn because it was raining around 10am, so I thought I'd rain all day. So I went back to bed and after 1 I ended up outside.
Remember those rocks I'd gotten rid of for the people to paint our house? They were in our driveway in deteriorating boxes, so I got the boxes piled together then rebagged the rocks in smaller bags so we can throw a bag or two away a week. Looks much better. The weather got icky looking, too, though it wasn't too cold. I had to really talk myself through the last four bags (that had to be rebagged, resulting in more than 4 little bags). I knew I was not going to go back out there tomorrow, so I finally finished, albeit pretty slowly.
I ended up watching 3 episodes of Little House on the Prairie. I finished up season 2 and started on 3. While watching it, I put together the drawers I got at Target. I also put up my necklace holders, the smoke detectors, and laid out my new rug. My sister had started my laundry yesterday while I was out shopping (which I so appreciate because it never would have gotten done today), and I finished up all but the load that was left in the dryer when I came to get ready for bed.
It feels good that the things bought over the weekend were for improvements and not just because we liked this or that. They're actually useful. I'm hoping this week to find a way to hang up my curtain rod so I can get them hung this weekend. And hopefully we can put to good use the other things we bought to help fix the place up as well. Until then, I'm in dire need of sleep.
