I did absolutely nothing on my technically-four-day-weekend. Aside from going to San Francisco for tests on Wednesday. I met with the Renal doctor and what I took to be his assistant (yes, I'm aware of the risks and of course I need to be careful with the remaining kidney. He actually gave an example that I could lose it if I get shot in the remaining one. I don't think he realized what a reality that could be where I live!). I then had a Renal CT Angiogram. I got ink put in my arm then went through a big donut a few times. Yes, even though it was open, it was very claustrophobic. I should have kept my eyes shut. Then I met with the Social Worker (no, I'm not selling an organ and yes, I set up a meeting with a local therapist in case this triggers a depressive episode, though I doubt it will).
I think Thursday I slept 15 hours or so? Thank you travelling and Dramamine (yes, even non-drowsy). I did go to a couple stores my sis wanted to go to, but she drove it and was very minimal effort on my part. Friday was a really fun day. I woke up and had lunch with my sister, my mom, a family friend, and my aunt who needs the kidney. Then Mom and I went to the animal shelter rummage sale (where I found the shirt my sister accidentally donated and has obsessed over), stopped at Salvation Army where I found a Fraggle Rock Record (so awesome!), got gas, then waited at home for my sister to get off work.
After sister came home, we went to Beverley's in Seaside where I bought my own Smash book. I've only started on one entry (explanation to come later). I love that it is a spiral bound book. My scrapbooks from middle, high school, and jr college are exactly what this book is all about. Except I'm a bit more crafty about entries now. Then we went to Micheal's in Marina to meet the family friend to help her pick out a frame for a newspaper insert we gave her (signed by bullriders a few years ago...she loved that the paper looked aged and didn't care it had my name on it).
Saturday I got to stay home. And sleeeeeep. I did do laundry and got Clover's bedding in the wash. So Sunday I was so exhausted! At least it was quiet at work. I focused as much as I could and got done what I could. And when I came home I busted my little tush and got it to work! I broke down an old shelf (which, turns out, would have probably broke itself down in the next 'quake anyway) and replaced it with my beloved cube shelves from Target (yes, I may be a bit obsessed with those, but they're the perfect size. Yes, I'm aware it's OCD). I also put together a bench Mom and Dad got me a couple years ago for Christmas. It fit exactly where I wanted it to in the bathroom (it has a little storage under the seat and I know a bench in the bathroom seems funny but it works). It's unpainted now, but I still have to pick out the shade of yellow I want for the bathroom. Clover was happy to get her bed back and slept in it all night (though right now she's trying to steal mine, which won't happen...clean sheets thank you!).
I wasn't sure if I would have the strength or energy to keep going today when I got off work, but for a Monday, it wasn't too busy so I kept at it. I put together two more cube shelves, moving an extra shelf into the shed. I have one side of the shed (only right up against the wall) ready for craft supplies. It's right there by the open door and perfect for accessible storage. Then Gibbs got his bedding back, though he doesn't sound too happy about not having the blanket that goes over his box (it's still in the dryer).
Tomorrow the plan is to go to Target and get a 6 cubed shelf for the last section of the wall and to look at baskets for the top of the shelves to hold my yarn. Extra yarn will be stored in the shed (and considering I have over 5 big tubs of it, yeah, I'll have extra). I'm hoping to be able to get some of our jewelry making supplies in here. I have a co-worker who asked me to make a couple of scrabble time name plates for her kids. And I'm still not sure how to store my unused canvas. (I showed Mom the two paintings I did about the accident. I am sure one is finished but the other needs some touch ups and it's missing...something, though I'm not sure what.)
I'm so excited to get organized! Mom agreed to keep the fold out couch in the little house (can anyone say sleep overs? Still an exciting prospect at 27) and to keep the two couches my sister and I bought and recover them (good bones, those have! Plus the shapes are awesome). And I talked to her about moving her big desk over up against a wall to make room for more storage on one side. it would just make an awesome sewing desk and it's so sturdy.
I am really excited about the prospect of getting this organized so we can have a space to get messy and leave a project out without grumblings from someone who doesn't understand the craftiness gene (ahem). I'm also pretty excited about getting the shed organized, which is funny, but I like organizing, even if I can't keep it that way forever (or get it right the first time).

You are the organizing queen! We appreciate your whip-crackin' to get our lives in order.
ReplyDeleteDang, you been busy!! Yes, you're totally obsessed with those box shelves lol
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you get to keep the sofa. it definitely makes a LOT of things easier!
I'd like to see your paintings.
I hope you enjoy your smashbook! I'm sure we'll eventually make our own, but this is already done and it makes me way more likely to "smash" things into it!
Sounds like you had a right good organising spell! Hope you are feeling better... :-)
