Book Shelves

I finally crossed something off my list tonight. I put together the shelves I got a couple weeks ago and it's amazing how much room I have to move about now, without all the books in the way. I also put up a mirror, because I expect to do something else with that corner, but it's temporarily housing books. And I put up one of my printer's drawers and put some of my small things in it, including my tiny elephants and my treesons.

Putting together both the shelves took so much less time than the last time I put something together. I really need to get myself an electric screwdriver/drill. There were two more of those big spiders today. One was brown, the second one (hiding in a nook in an existing bookcase in the room) was black. *shudders* What was the creepiest was when I sucked the first one up, my little vacuum didn't kill him and I could see him moving around. The second one I sprayed with hairspray and sucked it up when it came out of hiding, yet it still moved too. My mother saved me from both of them and killed them so they would not return (you never know!).

I am very happy with my shelves. I bought them at Target (I'll take photos tomorrow. I'm trying to wind down now). They are the cube shelves with nine cubbies. LOVE THEM. Thank you, Target! I will be getting more, too. I bought these when they went on sale for $36 when I went to Target in the next town over (it was all they had) and never made it to mine to see if they had any left. They are normally $50, which if you only need one is a good deal. They are much sturdier than normal shelves. But I plan on making my bedroom into a library, so I will need several. I can fit at least ten of them in there, if I stack a couple of them on top of each other (which they allow for). And though I prefer them on sale (because I like to spend less money and get more), if they are regular price, I will probably budget to buy probably two a month (one a paycheck) because I really do need them.

It took me probably an hour to put two of them together because I was watching television and was in a fairly cramped spaced that didn't allow me to just slap them together (snake fish are terrifying!). I feel productive in doing this, especially because I've been wanting to do something to pick things up around here for the last few days.

I have decided to start going to the gym again tomorrow. I decided to do that Tuesday night (or early Wednesday morning). Someone brought some old magazines to work and one had a twenty minute workout by Jackie something...that trainer who had her own tv show...anyway, it only has to be done three times a week (I will probably go Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I'd do every other day, but I don't like staying late on my "Friday's", so Tuesday is out). It says it works, too. You don't have to change your diet, just do the exercises on the little chart. It's one of those run fast, walk, then run, kind of ones. It's got a little chart I'm going to cut out and bring with me.

That's about it for now. I am going to keep on keepin' on and hopefully someday soon I'll actually get my bed into the bedroom.

  1. Can't wait to see the shelves! I love the square shelves and am glad to hear they're going to work out for you, especially since they're nice and sturdy.

    Good luck at the gym!
