Here We Go Again

Not eating today was not as bad I thought it would be, however, I have to stop drinking water at midnight. The worst part is my surgery is scheduled for 1pm, so my veins are gonna be tiny and they're gonna have to poke me multiple times. I'm gonna shrivel up into a prune without water! Ack! My throat is drying out now! *gags* Okay, not really, but I do hate not being able to at least drink. Then I'm guaranteed to have a coughing fit where something is stuck in my throat. I drank very little today. I had water (1 16 oz bottle and 2 bottles of the 1 quart size), a popsicle, and two glasses of orange/apple juice mixed together. I never really got hungry and my stomach never growled. I think it helped I had so little and took my mind off of it by doing other things.

I was off work today to prepare for the surgery tomorrow, and boy, did I make good use of my time. I even slept in until 11am and lazed in bed until 1pm. I got up, showered, and cracked the whip. I got the bathroom, living room, and bedroom cleaned. I've never seen it look so nice, especially since I moved in (I'm not implying I'm dirty, just that I have a lot of stuff). This past weekend I was so exhausted, the only thing I accomplished was two loads of laundry, so I figured it'd turn out the same way for me. I have no idea where the energy came from (especially since I had no food to fuel me!). I don't even want to sleep in my bed and mess it all up (don't worry, I will anyway).

Dawn and I took a trip to Borders yesterday after we heard they will all be closing. I wanted to get the good books before they got picked over if they start discounting things. I got some really good books. One was based on a Jane Austen novel, one was a Christian what happens when we die, and the rest were CSI/crime scene clean up types. I'm looking forward to reading them, though the surgery I had a couple years ago rendered me too tired to even read for at least a week. I'm hoping I can rally a bit sooner this time since I know what to expect (I really, really want to read!).

I've got my clothes laid out for tomorrow. I'm wearing my favorite pair of sweatpants, my San Jose Sharks slip-on slippers, and a pajama top with elephants on it that is so awesome. I thought about showering tonight, but I'm going to shower tomorrow since I have to wait a full 24 hours after surgery to do so again (I'm most upset about not being able to put on deodorant, I think). I just hope I'm not all jitters and don't forget to shave my legs.

  2. You did a great job! I'm glad you got it cleaned up so you can relax & enjoy the time you have off, especially since you don't have a choice since you're not allowed to pick anything heavy up!
