Painted Ceiling

Yup, I tacked the ceiling last night. There's just one spot that needs a touch up and I'm good. Whoo! I've started taping off the molding to get ready to paint the walls. I'm a bit nervous about that because I'm not sure about painting by the ceiling line. Do I really have to tape off the ceiling? I don't want to get paint on the ceiling because of the green color it's going to be and the ceiling is now a nice, bright white. Last time I painted my bedroom I had a long purple roller mark on my ceiling for ten years. Now I have the paint to fix those mistakes, but I don't want to pile up paint over my mistakes. I just want to make it look nice and be done.

My sister did say I should cut it with a paint brush then if I got a bit on the ceiling, I could cover it up with crown molding (which would be awesome, but would it look right if the ceiling is higher on one side than another? I wouldn't mind it personally, but why waste time and money on it if it looks funny? I've googled to find photos or info on it, but I can't find any. (It's like one side of the room is 6' high and the other end is 8', not just a few centimeters off.)

I was going to start painting the walls today, but even with the heater on, I could barely move, I was so cold to the bone. I doubt it will be warmer tomorrow, but I do need to get it done. Until then, I'm going to end this lazy day (first day I didn't leave the house in a while) by going to bed early (yes, 1 am is early for me). I still have ice cubes for toes.

  1. I have seen the ceiling line brought down a bit on one of those decorating shows and it looked great. It's sort of a faux crown molding affect. They taped a line around the room a few inches down from the ceiling (but you could go even more), which gave it the illusion of it being more even than not. Then you could put a wood trim molding at the line where both colors meet.
