Today was my first day on Days and it was awesome. It was a nice, relaxing day. I'm sure the training will get kicked up a few notches the next couple of days, but it was a nice introduction to what is to come. I was afraid the phones would be ringing off the hook so no one could show me anything. It's really been great.
I did not get to the backyard like I'd hoped. The sun goes down so fast, by the time I was half way through raking piles of grass, I could hardly see. And the mosquitoes! I know for sure I have two on my neck/back. And I swatted some from my arms, so when the itching really gets bad tomorrow, I'll finally see how many I really have.
The raking went really poorly. The only rake I found was an old-beat-up-why-do-we-still-own-this-sad-looking rake. It works about as good as it sounds. And I'm sure the yard looks funny, what with being half raked. Not to mention not being able to see the spots I was raking. I'll see if I can get back there tomorrow to at least get what I raked into the yard waste bin. I was going to do it with my sister, but she's caught a cold and things hit her about thrice as hard as me, so I advised her to stay in bed relaxing when she gets off work for the rest of the week.
I did make my list last night. I didn't actually get anything crossed off it and ended up adding something to it, but I can see it finished by the end of the weekend. I just have to get used to coming home and doing things, instead of vegging out in front of my DVD player or computer for four hours. I like that I have that time. And since I don't know if I want or will be getting this shift again next year, I want to take advantage of what little time I have because it will go by so fast.
I finished another book. One of the things I hope to get to tomorrow is to weed out some more books. I've already been eying my shelves to get an idea of what I'm not going to keep, what I no longer am interested in reading (because I've had some of these books for like four years waiting to be read and I don't read those anymore). I hope tomorrow goes as well as today did.

"The only rake I found was an old-beat-up-why-do-we-still-own-this-sad-looking rake." Haha! You got that right! Appreciating, very much, all that you do.
ReplyDeleteJust PLANNING to do a whole bunch of productive things is impressive enough!! And I'm already impressed by you mowing the lawn & getting back out there to work some more.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your first day went so well and hope today goes just as well.
