R.I.P. Sharks

A moment of silence.

Thank you. Though the SJ Sharks are no longer in the running for the Stanley Cup, we had a good year and I'm still an avid fan. So much in fact that I painted my next Alphabet box in Sharks colors. (Yes, I have a fascination with the alphabet boxes and this one probably won't be my last, either).

I like my top art. The fin looks a bit wonky, but what shark fin is perfect? I just hope the silver sharpie sits well when I varnish it. I may have to try it out on another piece before I go ruining this one.

So yup. That was my art project of the day. It does need some touch-ups on the lid over the nail holes and the parts where I erased the pencil markings then it will be ready for the varnish. Where it looks much better all shiny. And feels better, too.

I did not do much today, but I did manage to get some dusting done in the living room. Oh, crap. And I have to work on that laundry. I figure if I do anything, at least doing a little house cleaning a day will make a difference. I think it has. I don't know. I could be the only one who notices since I know what I did.

And the paw prints still are not dry! It's been over 24 hours. I even took them out of their plastic containers and they've been sitting on the table for hours. I guess I will have to give them at least a week. Because I don't want the shadow boxes to mold.

Ooh, and one more thing I did today. Dawn and I dropped off all of our donate boxes at the thrift store. So the archway from the living room to the dining room is looking a whole lot better. And we dropped a chair off for Mom to use at work. Which is nice because I don't know how many times I ran into that thing in the dark last night alone...

I let Dad know if next weekend is nice, I'll need help painting the display cabinets. It was too cold this weekend, I didn't have the energy, and my joints didn't want to fully function. Hopefully next weekend will be nice enough (and not windy) to spray paint them. Because that will make a huge difference in the look of the living room.

My eyes are bugging me so I'm going to shut down now.
Cheers.

Edited:
Once again, I have gotten ahead of myself; posting before I have finished my night. I organized my shoes (which is great, cause now I have space at the bottom of my closet to stand in when I look at my clothes as opposed to finding a hole around the pile of shoes). I also changed the sheets on my bed (I'm doing well with keeping up with that) and started a load of towels. Which I should be able to switch over to the dryer before I call it a night.

I also fixed jewelry. Cause I had no name plates to make. Boo. I fixed both pieces of jewelry Ant Martha gave Dawn to have fixed (turning french hooks into post, gluing a backing on to make a pin). And I fixed all but one piece of Mom's that she gave me to fix the day we started organizing her jewelry boxes (the hardest piece was to make a pin a pin again and add a chain so it can be either a necklace or a pin...I converted two pairs of french hook to post, glued a pearl back in its spot, had a ring with a stone missing that i stuck a rhinestone in cause it's all i had that would fit, glued a butterfly wing back on, and glued new postings to an worn out pair where the posts were barely attached. All I have left is to paint something on the back of a pair of earrings so it does not turn her ears colors).

Even though I slept a lot, and still sleep a lot, I feel productive because instead of just lazing around, I am getting things accomplished that I can actually see. I just feel the tiniest bit inadequate because Dad still has said nothing about what I've done. I don't even think he's noticed. I had to point out that our huge pile of donate boxes and a big garbage bag full of clothes were gone and he was like, "I didn't even see that gone!" Go figure. I have started another little pile to get rid of things. I told Mom we'll keep it going. Then we can dump it again this weekend and so forth.

I'm going to watch home and away, balance my checkbook, then sleep.

  1. What you've been doing around the house is making a HUGE difference. Don't let Daddy's mute-ness tell you otherwise. You're impressing me by what you get done--it's like every day, little by little, the house looks less cluttered.

  3. We all see it, hon, so don't think anything is getting past us! (I'm not sure what Daddy's agenda is by being so distant lately. It's his problem, don't let it become yours.) Every single thing you do makes a difference. Like I always say, it's when things DON'T get done that people notice, so if you were to stop, we'd notice! Thanks for all you do, as Dawn said, it's made a HUGE difference.

    The Sharks still rock.
