Book Seven: Prada and Prejudice

It has nothing to do with Jane Austen, as the title implies and it took me the whole book to realize it! The summer before her Sophomore year in high school, Callie goes to England on a field trip. She trips and bonks her head and finds herself in 1815. I found it to be a wonderfully realistic interpretation of how a teenager would act when suddenly told what to do --and when faced with arranged marriages, even if they aren't hers.

I found myself smiling, even after I closed the book. The book is one of those cliff-hanger types I don't like, but the little twist at the end was enough to satisfy me. It was a quick read that I hated to put down. I even finished it before turning on my computer!

I loved the characters and admit I find the thrill of teenage crushes more intriguing than adult romance novels. It even tickled my fancy that I own a pair of shoes exactly like on the cover (except they were $8 from Hot Topic, not $400 from Prada). And I love how, in the end, her experience gave her the boost of self confidence she needed.
