I am so tired, I cannot get anything accomplished. I have not done anything except work and sleep for the last week. As I said in my previous post, I had to work for eight straight days. What made it worse was twice I flexed to go in at 7:45am instead of my normal time of 3:35pm (one for my grandfather's birthday, second was for my great uncle's funeral, and I worked a half day). So twice I had to come home and go pretty much straight to bed and take something to ensure I'd get enough sleep, then I'd go to bed early from being up so early. Saturday I was in bed by 8pm and I slept until 2:30pm the next day. So I've done nothing.
Today was finally a day off and I feel like it has gone by too fast. I have one more, but I so wish it was three. I got up around 2 today and went out when my sis got home from work, us and our Mom went shopping. We started at Micheals, where I ended up spending $28...yes, I dipped into my cushion. I bought a 7-pack of 11x14 canvas' for $12 (a 40% coupon saved me $8). I also bought these awesome neon-colored googly eyes, rainbow colored beads for my sister, and butterfly toggle clasps. Then we went to the Discovery shop where I found a book for $1 and a stamp holder in the shape of a tree stump for $3 (my sister bought them for me).
We ate yummy Mexican food then went shopping at Safeway. I think I mentioned before that I had got a $100 gift certificate for doing a survey thing, so I was going to spend it on groceries. We finally went today to get some. It was a good trip because a lot of what we wanted was on sale for even cheaper than it normally is. I was told I'm a mean mommy, but the point was to stock up on staples that we could really work with; stuff Mom can make and others we can.
We made a list while eating. We got Rice-A-Roni and Hamburger Helper, both name brands which were cheaper than store brand. The macaroni and cheese (I got regular, my sister picked out white cheese shells) were Annie's Organic, much cheaper than name or store brand. We picked up Bananas and I love my Honey Bunches of Oats, which was for $2 a box if I bought four boxes instead of three. And most recently I've come to love Orange-Strawberry Gatoraid AM, which had the big bottles on sale for 10 for $10.
I got two boxes of scalloped potatoes and Dawn talked me into buying fruit by the foot because it was $1 a box if you bought 4. Sister also picked out cup-o-noodles, goldfish, and pretzels to bring to work. We got two cans of corn and two of mixed vegetables. Edamame was even on sale for 2 bags for 44. We splurged and got a gallon of chocolate milk as well. Sister got leggings, I got new shampoo to try, and mom got bandaids. We even got a slice of carrot cake for $0.99. In total, we saved $50.09 just by buying what was on sale, going off-brand, and and not purchasing what we knew has been on sale for cheaper (such as the yogurt). We spent $109.93 (I paid for the rest with my debit card).
Now I am watching the new episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter while trying to get energy to get a small list of chores done: garbage out, sheets changed, clothes washed...I really want to get some painting done two with my different sized canvas'. And my mom bought me this awesome new paint that you mix in and it adds a pearly sheen. Not to mention I've got name tags to get to made that someone wants to pay me for (but I've got stuff blocking it that I need to move).
My next paycheck comes this Friday, in which I will be paying off my truck. Finally!!! I'm so excited to be able to do that. Restricting my cash flow has been worth it. I have been very careful with my purchases and I have not bought any lunch at work for the last two weeks: I have brought it, which has been a huge feat, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I think I'm actually eating less because I am not buying myself the little snacks I normally do.
Anyway, let's hope I can get the energy. My body aches from the amount of time I've spent in bed this pat week, yet I can't get the energy to do anything but lay down and try not to sleep.

Sounds like we both dipped into our cushion yesterday. Eep. I am looking forward to fitting in those new books I read, though! They'll be a quick read. I feel like I'm cheating since I'm reading kids books for the 50 challenge, but maybe it's a good way to start it off so I'll do it again next year, and I'm going to read them anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou did a GREAT job at Safeway yesterday, no matter how much we complained. It was all in good fun. I really am impressed by how many staples you stocked up on and for such great prices. There's no excuse for me to eat fast food when you can make 3 meals for what my lunch at Burger King cost me the other day! (though I splurged on that meal)
I busted into my goldfish at work today. YUM! They're such a treat when I don't get them at Costco. And the Pretzels will last me forever--I'm surprised at how long they lasted last time I bought them! Probably a month, and never went stale.
I can't wait to see how the pearly paint stuff comes out.
