NightWorld is a series by L.J. Smith. I really do love her writings. This is a third set in the series. I've read all three. I really enjoyed the first three stories in the first book because each established the Night World rules and gave you a sense of what it was.The second set elaborated on that, introducing you to new characters that started to show how the changes that were set in motion are starting to affect everyone. I should have mentioned earlier that Night World is what is sounds like- vampires, witches, shapeshifters, and the like. The characters and stories from the first book started weaving together and it wasn't so random.
The third set finally introduces and solidifies the four "Wild Powers", or four individuals who can save the world from death and destruction. Of course they have to be found first, and even they don't know that they're special. And of course there is the fight between those who hate the humans and those who want peace between everyone.
This was a series of nine books originally published between 1996 and 1998. Obviously, it has taken me a few years to even discover this author. The tenth book was never published. The republishing, with three books combined into one, was to prepare for the publication of "Strange Fate", which was to come out in April 2010. It has now been pushed back to April 2011. These books are an easy read. If you're looking for something to keep you entertained, these do it. The writing is definitely higher quality than that of Twilight. I also enjoy the different aspects and not being tied down only to Vampires or Werewolves...I like that the night life in this book embraces a lot of different mythical creatures. By the time the finale comes out, I will probably have to reread these (as I have already read 33 books since this one), but I know I will enjoy rereading these again.
