Another book by Georgette Heyer, I liked this one fairly well. The heroine, Annis, is an independent woman, rare in her time and she takes in a child she happens to meet along the way (who was running away). She takes her under her wing to prepare her for society.
I liked this book because I could relate to the heroine not wanting to give up her independence. However, I am not much on taking in strangers off the street into my home, no matter how sorry they look. I did enjoy this one. Apparently it was the last novel Heyer ever wrote.
In any case, this one made for good reading for me. It was a quicker read that I did not have to stress my head about. I enjoy frou frou reading to get my mind off my daily worries and this is one author that does it for me.
